Sidoarjo, August 19, 2024 – In celebration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day, Aston Sidoarjo proudly held the “Independence Festival.” In its second year, this celebration offered not only a flag ceremony but also a wide range of activities open to the public, including singing contests, sports events, live music, a fashion show, and cooking sessions.
Held over two days on August 17 and 18, 2024, the event successfully gathered nearly 500 visitors of all ages, from children and teens to adults.
The excitement at this year’s Independence Festival was remarkable. The “Anak Indonesia Ayo Berkarya” singing competition, organized in collaboration with Aksi Cinta Indonesia and Prodigy Music Academy, featured performances from students of SD - SMP Widya Wiyata, Adel, a talented blind singer, and Naomi Olivia, a young singer with numerous achievements. These performances aimed to inspire the singing contestants by showing that creativity knows no bounds.
“We’re grateful that attendance and community participation continue to grow each year. We hope this opportunity is well-utilized, especially for the 15 bazaar participants who joined the 2024 Independence Festival, so that their products become popular and reach more people,” said Katta, Marketing Communications at Aston Sidoarjo.
Katta also noted that this year’s bazaar was particularly special, as it involved ASMAMINDA (the Sidoarjo Food & Beverage Association), which aims to help promote local entrepreneurs’ products.
The second day began with a special performance by the Angklung Permata community and the DKT Tersayang Line Dance group, who played five songs, including “Ye Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin,” symbolizing friendship between two cultures.
The event became even more exciting with a Pushbike Competition organized in collaboration with Delta Eagle Sidoarjo, drawing 145 young participants aged 2-6 from various regions in East Java, including Gresik, Surabaya, and Sidoarjo.
As the event finale, Aston Sidoarjo hosted a cooking demo and cooking challenge, giving participants a chance to showcase their culinary creativity and skills in the kitchen, with exciting prizes awaiting the winners.
“It was a fun event. Hopefully, they can make it even bigger and better next year,” said Pipit, one of the festival attendees.
The event received support from various partners, including Asry Gas, Karita, Anak Indonesia Ayo Berkarya, Prodigy Music Academy, Susu Tango, Toza, Komunitas Narasi, Scotch Brite, Trans Studio Mini, Sabiluna Children Development, Fitbar, Hilo, Cheers, Sanex, Maxim, Padamu Corn Vermicelli, Starkids, Kokola, Youvit, Asmaminda, HKTI, and Femmy.
