Semarang, October 9, 2024 – ASTON Inn Pandanaran Semarang is once again introducing a new dish starting this October. Not just one dish, but two at once: a traditional food and a mocktail.
For lovers of Indonesian cuisine, especially pepes ikan (fish wrapped in banana leaves), ASTON Inn Pandanaran Semarang presents a pepes dish using the ocean fish mahi-mahi. Mahi-mahi, known in Indonesian as ikan lemadang or ikan belitung, is a fish that lives in Indonesian waters, specifically in shallow coastal areas, and belongs to the genus Coryphaena. Ocean fish are rich in nutrients and have numerous health benefits, including maintaining body weight, preventing anemia, supporting heart health, promoting eye health, and enhancing brain function. In addition to its benefits, mahi-mahi has a firm texture, and when wrapped in yellow-spiced banana leaves, it adds to the enjoyment of the meal.
The second dish is a mocktail creation by the food and beverage team, combining ingredients like lychee, Yakult, mint leaves, soda water, and dragon fruit, which we have named Winter Queen. This refreshing drink is perfect for enjoying while relaxing with friends or family at 40lane café or via room service when in your room.
“We will continue to innovate and create appealing dishes, both food and beverages. With the mahi-mahi pepes, we aim to highlight Indonesian cuisine, especially pepes, by using ocean fish, particularly mahi-mahi. Furthermore, we want to introduce other varieties of ocean fish to the community, especially in Semarang, by using mahi-mahi,” stated Ibnoe Ichwan Chambali, General Manager.
