Pontianak, October 4, 2024 – Sharing brings joy. This phrase embodies the spirit of Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center and Transera Hotel Pontianak as they hosted a Cooking Class with children from Al-Kautsar Orphanage, located on Jalan Merdeka, on Friday, October 4, 2024. Despite some rain-related challenges, the event was a success, as the children’s smiles and excitement showed after they made burgers together.

A total of 20 children from Al-Kautsar Orphanage enthusiastically participated, listening attentively to Chef Hedwiq, the Executive Chef of Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center. Each child was provided with cooking essentials, including aprons, bandanas, and gloves, as well as the ingredients for making burgers—buns, meat patties, and fresh vegetables.

Udik Setiadi, representing both hotels, shared that the Cooking Class is an annual tradition to celebrate the anniversaries of Aston Pontianak and Transera Hotel. “We were touched and thrilled to see the children’s enthusiasm and joy throughout this activity. We hope this experience adds to their knowledge and benefits them in the future,” he said. In addition to the class, the hotels also donated construction funds for the orphanage dormitory, staple food packages, and study desks for the children.

Sami’an, representing Al-Kautsar Orphanage, expressed his heartfelt gratitude. “The children never imagined they could participate in an event like this, dressed just like real chefs,” he remarked. Participants, including Balqis, Satar, and Zaidan, shared how happy they were to join the burger-making Cooking Class.

This event is part of the series of activities leading up to the 14th-anniversary celebration of Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center on October 10, 2024. In addition to the Cooking Class, previous events included a General Cleaning initiative, an Inter-Department Cooking Competition, and a Blood Donation Drive. Upcoming activities will feature a Friendly Mini Soccer Match with Transera Hotel, followed by the Ceremony Day & Staff Party on October 10, and a Customer Gathering on October 11, 2024.
