Sidoarjo, July 27, 2024 – In celebration of National Children’s Day this year, Aston Sidoarjo held a “Mom & Kids Cooking Class” event. The event, in collaboration with Let’s Talk English, took place on July 27 at the Nirwana Ballroom, 2nd Floor.

During the event, mothers and children tested their teamwork and cooperation by making cupcakes. Participants didn’t just decorate; they prepared the entire cupcake batter from scratch, from mixing flour and eggs to filling the pre-prepared molds.

With a turnout of 120 participants, the event was guided by Lia, Pastry Chef at Aston Sidoarjo, who provided all the ingredients for making cupcakes: powdered sugar, flour, baking powder, liquid milk, cooking oil or butter, and one egg. The ingredients were mixed step-by-step.

The children were asked to crack eggs and separate the yolks from the whites—a hands-on activity that helped develop their fine motor skills and refine their soft skills.

"It’s so much fun! Alhamdulillah, everyone is happy. This event is very beneficial because, in addition to the cooking class, there was also a parenting talk. In today’s modern world, psychologists play an essential role in addressing family-related issues, especially those affecting children’s development,” said Dwi, one of the participants. Enthusiasm increased as participants began the hotel tour. While touring, the Let’s Talk English team engaged participants with light English games. The cooperation between parents and children in this activity aimed to create lasting memories and an unforgettable experience.

The event also featured a parenting talk by Ms. Sri Sulistianingsih, S.Psi., a child and family psychologist affectionately known as “Bunda Aan,” on the theme “Optimizing Children’s Soft Skills Potential.”
