Balikpapan, July 22, 2024 – Archipelago International, Southeast Asia’s largest hotel operator, continues its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative through the Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative (ACCI) in East Kalimantan, in collaboration with three of its network hotels.

This CSR event, focusing on supporting children with cancer, marks the third event of the year, following similar initiatives in Banjarmasin and Surabaya. Held on July 20, 2024, the event represents Archipelago International’s commitment, along with its network of hotels, to continually support and share with cancer patients, especially children. The Rumah Singgah Kanker Anak in Balikpapan, located at Jalan Indrakila No.53, served as the host for this visit from Archipelago International's management and hotel teams based in East Kalimantan.

Fundraising activities were also conducted by Archipelago International’s hotels as part of this initiative. These included a Weekend Charity event at Samarinda Central Plaza Mall featuring a food and drink bazaar, a Preloved Sale, and community gatherings. Additional fundraising events were held at Grand City and Lapangan Merdeka, as well as at Gedung Parkir Klandasan Balikpapan, with live cooking stands for Banjar banana bread and a food and drink bazaar during Bhayangkara Anniversary at Grand City. Hotels also hosted donation drives, inviting hotel guests to contribute. All proceeds from these events were donated to Rumah Singgah Kanker Anak. The fundraising campaign ran from early June 2024 until July 18, 2024.

The donations collected during the ACCI event in East Kalimantan included cash as well as food and clothing supplies. All contributions were handed over to the foundation in the form of cash donations, basic necessities, and support packages for each child. The donations are intended to help meet the needs of children battling cancer.

In addition to the donation handover, this ACCI event featured a Magic & Bubble Show by Cikobadut Samarinda, as well as a cooking demo by Executive Chefs from Archipelago International hotels. The chefs collaborated to create Bento Box creations with the children, and the Food and Beverage team also participated by preparing healthy juice for the kids.

Cancer Care Initiative reflects our dedication to supporting one another and demonstrates our commitment as we expand this CSR program across Kalimantan. We strive to enhance the wellbeing of the communities around us and show our care for those in need," said John Flood, CEO of Archipelago International.
