Pontianak, March 27, 2025 – In the spirit of sharing during the holy month of Ramadhan, Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center, in collaboration with EF Pontianak and Dompet Ummat, successfully held a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event titled "Bercyanda: Sharing Joy with Orphans & the Less Fortunate" on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. This heartwarming activity, now in its third year since Ramadhan 2022, brought joy to 20 orphans and underprivileged children under the care of Dompet Ummat, from Pal Lima and Sungai Jawi Luar, Pontianak.
The event kicked off at 1:30 PM, with the exciting activity of taking the children shopping for their Eid al-Fitr outfits and snacks at Mitra Anda Supermarket. The excitement continued as they were then taken to EF Pontianak for an interactive and engaging English learning session with the teachers, where they enjoyed learning English through fun methods. The day culminated at Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center, where everyone shared a delightful iftar (breaking the fast) together, creating cherished moments of togetherness and happiness.
"We firmly believe that every child deserves to experience happiness, especially during Ramadhan and leading up to the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Through this event, we aim to provide them with a memorable experience, from learning together to choosing their desired Eid al-Fitr outfits," said Anto W. Soemartono, General Manager of Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center.
Beyond the joy of shopping, this activity also provided a valuable opportunity for the children to explore new environments and foster a spirit of learning. Renny Anggraeni, Center Director of EF Pontianak, added that the event also garnered attention from parents of EF students, who generously contributed to the cause. "We extend our gratitude to the parents who participated in this event," she added.
Kristina, Field Coordinator of Dompet Ummat, expressed her appreciation for the collaboration, recognizing it as a tangible manifestation of care for others. "This collaboration is incredibly meaningful for the children, bringing them happiness and renewed hope as they approach the Eid al-Fitr festivities," she stated.
One of the children, Jio (7 years old), enthusiastically shared his joy at being able to choose his own Eid al-Fitr clothes and buy snacks at the supermarket. "I'm happy I got to buy new clothes and break the fast here," he exclaimed.
The "Sharing Joy with Orphans & the Less Fortunate" event reflects the ongoing commitment of Aston Pontianak and EF Pontianak to support social programs and make a positive impact on the community. With a spirit of togetherness, Aston Pontianak, EF Pontianak, and Dompet Ummat hope that this activity will inspire more individuals and organizations to share and care for others, especially during this blessed month.
