Pontianak, February 21, 2025 – In commemoration of National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) 2025, Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center, in collaboration with Hotel Neo Gajah Mada Pontianak and Transera Hotel Pontianak, supported by MR.DIY, successfully organized a social event titled "Gajahmada Street Clean-Up Action" on Friday, February 21, 2025.

The event, which started at 6:30 AM, involved hundreds of participants, including employees from each hotel who share a concern for environmental cleanliness. The route began at Transera Hotel’s parking lot, continued through Hijas Street and Gajahmada Street, and ended at MR.DIY’s courtyard. Equipped with gloves, masks, and garbage bags, participants enthusiastically cleaned up the area along Gajahmada Street, collecting plastic, paper, and other waste, which was then sorted accordingly. After collecting the trash, the participants separated organic and inorganic waste. Each participant who collected a full garbage bag received snacks and a lucky draw coupon. Additionally, participants were invited to join a healthy exercise session in MR.DIY’s parking lot.

The General Managers of the three hotels also attended and actively participated in the event from start to finish. Anto W. Soemartono, General Manager of Aston Pontianak, stated, "This event is a tangible expression of our commitment to the environment. Through collaboration, we hope this initiative can serve as an example for the wider community to be more mindful of keeping the city clean."

Similarly, Exsan, General Manager of Hotel Neo Gajah Mada Pontianak, added, "We are very enthusiastic about collaborating in this event as part of our commitment to maintaining environmental cleanliness, especially around the Neo area, and increasing public awareness of proper waste management."

One of the participants from Neo, Emi, shared her positive experience: "I am very happy to participate in this activity. Not only did I contribute to cleaning up the environment, but I also got a door prize! I hope events like this continue and attract even more participants in the future."

Carrying the slogan "Clean City, Healthy Citizens", this movement aims to inspire more people to contribute to environmental cleanliness. HPSN 2025 is a nationwide movement commemorated every February 21, serving as an important moment to encourage all elements of society to take greater responsibility for waste management for a better future.
